Hatchery Laborer’s responsibilities are primarily but not limited to: washing hatcher trays, sanitize separator, tray wash, hatcher, set eggs, transfer eggs, and load chicks onto conveyor.
Position is 1st Shift.
Job Duties/Physical Requirements/Dexterity
Hatchery Laborer’s are required to handle hatcher trays, sanitize equipment, set eggs, transfer eggs, and load chicks onto conveyor. They will be required to learn how to run the separator, tray wash, chick room, and setting eggs. The separator is sanitized using a foaming system with sodium hypochlorite and then rinsed with a high pressure hose. Sanitizing the hatcher requires removing fans from the inside of the hatcher, sweeping the floor to remove excess debris, then foaming with sodium hypochlorite and rinsing with a high pressure hose. The tray wash room is sanitized by removing all doors and foaming the machine with dawn and sodium hypochlorite. Setting requires team members to place eggs into the incubators by lifting 10 pound egg trays and placing them into the sleeves. Eggs are placed from floor level to shoulder level.

Dexterity:
Some jobs require pinch grip, back extension/flexion, and/or should extension/flexion.
Equipment/Tools/PPE:
Hearing protection is required in posted areas, slip resistant shoes are required in all areas, steel toe shoes are required during set and transfer, and cotton gloves are optional to be used as needed by team member.

Working Conditions:
Conditions are wet and humid during sanitation process. The team members spend approximately 2 hours per shift in the incubators which are 99.8 degrees Fahrenheit and are exposed to dusty conditions when chicks are in production
