- Responsible to accept a variety of assignments ranging from packaging glass, forklift operations and glassmaking tasks.
- Team members are responsible for producing various products in accordance with all work instructions, quality and safety expectations.
- Team members have the responsibility to identify, record and communicate any problems relating to the product or process.
- Team members have the authority to initiate, recommend or provide solutions to problems through designated channels.
- Responsible for following the Quality, Environmental and Safety policies.
- Responsible to abide by all Federal, State, and Local requirements related to generating and disposing of hazardous and non-hazardous waste material.
- Responsible for following all Plant / Companies rules, policies and procedures and contractual agreements.
- Responsible to conform to expected conduct in a business environment.
Specific Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Produce float glass in accordance with all SOP’s and customer specifications
- Cut, pack, and store stoce and block size glass per SOP’s
- Ensure produced parts meet customer specifications
- Load / Unload product and / or material and supplies as required and specified
- Pack finished product according to customer requirements.
- Respond to process emergencies as required
- Adhere to housekeeping standards.
- Participate in all audits : STOP Audits, GO Audits, internal audit, cross facility, management and third-party registration audits.

- Participate in required training and successfully complete required assessments or testing to verify understanding and knowledge
- Team Members are responsible for adhering to work standardization and associated training requirements.
- Required to assist in training of others.
- Adhere to 5S and housekeeping standards and responsible for clean-up of work areas upon completion of tasks.
- Other duties as assigned.
Training Requirements
- Overview of all the plant and departmental safety rules.
- Overview of all the procedures, work instructions and equipment applicable to the job. Will need to perform these items to the satisfaction of the immediate supervisor.
- The trainee will be qualified for this task after passing a skills test. He / she will be periodically evaluated and upgraded.
Education / Requirements
- High School diploma or GED
- Must be dependable, self-motivated and have an excellent attendance record. Must be willing to accept responsibility. Must be innovative and pro-active.
Within the scope of a job assignment, must be willing to do whatever is necessary to accomplish the assigned task.
Communications Skills : Must be able to communicate information to other crews and to other employees as needed. Must be able to recognize and to communicate problems that might arise during the performance of their duties.
Physical Demands :
- Occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Occasionally exposed to plant environment including noise, dust, dirt and vibrations, extreme climate changes / changes in weather
- Ability to work at elevated work stations
- Availability to work for extended periods during emergency repair work
- Availability as needed to work on both a scheduled and call-out basis, and the ability to work at the assigned job site.
- Willing to work shift work and assist in other areas of department or site as needed.
- Job schedule / working hours are determined by crew assigned unless modified by supervisor due to emergency needs.
- The incumbent will work a 4-set shift rotation. 12 hour shifts that rotate from 1st to 2nd shift every 4 weeks. 4 weeks are spent on first shift 6 : 00am-6 : 00pm, the following 4 weeks are spent 6 : 00pm-6 : 00am.
