Who We Are
Cactus Park Elementary is the second school of the nationally-celebrated pilotED Schools network opening for the 2022-2023 school year. At Cactus Park Elementary, we strive to center the voices and experiences of our students and their families as we further the academic excellence, social identity development, and civic engagement of our students. From our daily identity-based curriculum to our on-campus farm, Cactus Park Elementary provides an inclusive, enriching lifestyle for our students and families to forever interrupt generational cycles of poverty.


What You’ll Be Doing
Reporting to the School Principal and working closely alongside the Leadership Team, the Dean of Culture will work in a highly visible leadership capacity to maintain a supportive, productive, and enriching school culture. The Dean of Culture will play an instrumental role in establishing and reinforcing high expectations for positive student behavior. They will maintain consistent and constructive communication with teachers, administrators, and student families in an effort to ensure that school culture norms are effectively defined and reinforced.


Roles and Responsibilities:
The Dean of Culture’s primary responsibilities are to maintain a safe learning environment and ensure the well-being of all students and staff while fostering and cultivating meaningful relationships with families and the community.

  • Be a well-known, positive school presence, modeling pilotED Schools’ mission and values.
  • Develop and demonstrate knowledge of standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
  • Demonstrate an unshakable, deeply held personal belief that all children can achieve at high levels.
  • Demonstrate an unwavering commitment to “do whatever it takes” to deliver on our organization’s mission to prepare every single child for success in college, career, and life.
  • Execute pilotED’s vision and clarify the organization’s approach to school culture, essential culture leadership skills and the strategy to align all to this approach


Codify initiatives, resources, and tools for culture:


  • Collab and/or design professional developments around school culture.
  • Design and implement systematic approach for discipline.
  • Develop and maintain the school culture framework that pairs diversity with high expectations.
  • Train staff on restorative justice and trauma-informed care.
  • Use data to effectively assess current state, diagnose areas of strength and need, set goals, and provide target strategies.


Student Support/Culture and School Systems Implementation:


  • Through coaching and modeling, support school based staff in building their capacity to implement Restorative Justice interventions.
  • Oversee and manage discipline system and staff implementation.
  • Increase building level capacity by supporting with the implementation of trauma-informed and restorative practices, school wide tier one systems, tiered interventions.
  • Promote highly specialized positive behavior interventions in which “at risk” students thrive by prioritizing behavior instruction that is explicit, intensive, accelerated, and provides ample practice.
  • Own comprehensive student safety, including proactive positive culture systems, supervision plans, responsive discipline, Restorative Practices, violence and bullying prevention & response.
  • Develop, monitor, and communicate metrics regarding the student experience with all stakeholders (i.e. leadership team, staff, authorizer, students, families, board of directors)
  • Ensure fidelity to core model of school culture programming, habits, and expectations
  • Ensure strong internal (i.e. board, team, students, families) and external data and reporting systems to track effectiveness of initiatives over time
  • Increase the efficiency and effectiveness of campus operations in order to drive even stronger results in school performance.
  • Monitor and communicate progress to the leadership team, staff, and Board of Directors.


School Leadership:
  • Collaborate with the Special Education department to ensure all students are receiving appropriate services and making appropriate progress toward learning goals.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team and teachers to ensure the learning environment is beautiful, clean, and designed to support student independence.
  • Support the leadership team to ensure effective implementation of logistics necessary for running a well-functioning school, such as scheduling, test administration, beautification projects and other details.
  • Ensure families, community partners, students, and staff are heard, respected, and valued.
  • Model and foster an asset-based mindset that values partnership with students, families, staff, and communities.
  • Seek, provide, and respond to feedback with all stakeholders.
  • Constantly identify opportunities to learn and grow for self and others, and proactively seek to supplement strong instincts with new ideas and best practices.
  • Makes decisions and enables others to make decisions based on what is best for students.
  • Support regular communication with families (and prospective families), including systems that bolster school wide outcomes/goals. These include but are not limited to: progress reports, interventions communication, school events, fee collection, attendance letters, surveys, Open Houses, Orientations, and recruiting opportunities.
  • Plan, assist, and attend recruitment and marketing events; attend other community, social events or gatherings, outside of regularly scheduled calendar events.


Ideal candidates will have most of the following qualifications:
  • A Nevada School Administrator’s License
  • Master’s (or higher) in Educational Leadership, Education, or a related field
  • A minimum of 3 years of teaching plus school-based administrative or supervisory experience
  • Strong technology skills relating to blended learning, data analysis, and communications
  • A deep passion for well-being, diversity, and inclusive practices
  • Willingness to embrace innovative pedagogy and social emotional learning techniques that support whole child development and well-being
  • A laser-focused approach on student and adult well-being
  • Clear and compelling verbal and written communication
  • Proficiency in Spanish
