Description
This position requires 100T Master upon Western Rivers, Inland waters license and a valid radar endorsement, Must be able to communicate and work well with others including. Must have safe work experience, be familiar with recognizing and mitigating hazards identified in the work place. Must have a good understanding and the ability to safely navigate in ever changing river conditions. Pilot must have a good understanding of the USCG "Inland Rules of the Road' for navigating the waterway, maintaining fleeting operations, etc. Understand how to properly secure barges as needed to position and place barges within the confines of the dedicated work site or build tows to navigate along the inland waterway system if deemed necessary. Must be able and willing to supervise deck crew, troubleshoot some mechanical issues and problems, perform preventive maintenance of the vessel (such as servicing main engines and generators), chipping, painting, cleaning as necessary. Ensure the motor vessel is properly cleaned and maintained as per the USCG regulations. Direct and oversee all facets of the boat operations to include employee relations. These vessels normally work on designated work sites along the inland waterway system providing support to the Marine Construction Division. Position is intended for operator to reside onboard the Dredge Wallace McGeorge. Will work a 14 day on and 7 day off rotation. Normal work hours for this operation are days and nights. Requirements
100T Master upon Western Rivers and Inland waters with radar endorsement;
TWIC Card;
FCC license (restricted radio license);
Ability and desire to work 12 hour shift required;
Ability to work 14 days on and 7days off schedule;
Ability to travel and be gone from home for extended period of time;
Ability to work days and nights;
Ability to perform manual labor including lifting items at least as heavy as 50 pounds when required;
Must be motivated and a self-starter;
Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and perform repetitive bending and stooping when required;
Must not be afraid of water and be comfortable working over or adjacent to water;
Must have ability and desire to work during inclement weather conditions including extreme heat and cold;
Must possess excellent communication skills and work well with all applicable entities involved in the process at all time;
Must be dependable and consistent to report to work as scheduled.
Must have a valid drivers license
Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
Must possess basic computer skills as we use Tow Works for a significant amount of our USCG documentation onboard vessel.
