The business education instructor will develop in each pupil an understanding of our American business system and its place in the nation’s economy; to provide knowledge needed for intelligent consumption of business services; to develop practical business skills for personal use or for use in business occupation; to encourage pupils to develop work and personal habits essential for success in business.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree with business or business education major or minor
One (1) or more years successful classroom teaching experience (preferred)
Valid Arkansas Teacher Certification with business endorsement
Demonstrated skill and dexterity in working with business machines and equipment
Highly Qualified Status as determined by the Arkansas Department of Education
Skill in communicating with students, their parents, administrators, and others. Technology competency.
Knowledge of and skill in the use of database, internet, spreadsheet, work processing, and related applications.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong content and subject-matter knowledge
Organization and time-management skills
Ability to properly maintain confidential information
Duties And Responsibilities
Instructs students through effective differentiated teaching methods to ensure comprehension and mastery of content
Teaches knowledge and skills in one or more of the following subjects to junior high or secondary pupils: keyboarding, accounting, record keeping, office procedures, business law, business communication, basic business consumer math. Utilizes course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities
Reviews and researches all curriculum requirements for the particular grade level and coordinates with other business teachers in the high school
Instructs pupils in use, care, and safe operations of business equipment
Enhances course content in the form of remediation, modification and enrichment
Maintains continued contact with local business community to keep in touch with job entry requirements and current business methods and equipment
Prepares appropriate instructional aids and display materials to enhance learning
Prepares engaging and challenging lessons
Instructs pupils in importance and significance of accuracy, neatness, efficiency, resourcefulness, and good work habits in obtaining and retaining employment in business
Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs
Identifies pupil needs, and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems
Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and/or self-selected professional growth activities
Effectively manages the learning environment so that it is conducive to learning
Assists with student management through the building, grounds and/or other facilities and effectively communicates with students, parents and other stakeholders via verbal and written communication
Collaborates with other teachers to support student achievement and student retention
Performs other duties as assigned by your immediate supervisor
