Bar Tender

A bartender is responsible for providing a positive and friendly guest experience by interacting with patrons while satisfying their beverage needs. An understanding of mixing beverages using an extensive range of ingredients including liquor, bitters, soda, water, sugar, and fruits is an integral part of the job. Taking beverage orders from customers and wait staff and serving drinks as requested, paying extreme attention to detail is vitally important to the success of the restaurant.

Job Duties

• Welcome and greet all customers and ensure everyone receives the proper attention.
• Learns the names and personally recognize our regulars.
• Take beverage orders from guests and servers.
• Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks consistent with Pine Hill’s standard drink recipes.
• Record drink orders accurately and immediately after receipt into the computer system.
• Accept guest payment, process credit card charges and make change (if applicable).
• Wash and sterilize glassware.
• Prepare garnishes for drinks and replenish snacks, appetizers for bar patrons.
• Maintains bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner to support efficient drink preparation and promotion of beverages.
• Cleaning the bar, tables, chairs, and work area to maintain a sanitary environment
• Present drink menus, make recommendations and answer questions regarding beverages.
• Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the bar including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves and storage areas.
• Receive and serve food orders to guests
• Memorize the menu to aid customers in timely food ordering and understanding.
• Report all equipment problems and maintenance issues to restaurant manager.
• Assist with the restocking and replenishment of bar inventory and supplies.
• Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor.
• Required within 90 days of being hired – Serv Safe Food Sanitation and Basset Certifications
• Following state and local laws – checking ID’s and not overserving patrons

Qualifications:

• Be 21 years of age.
• Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills (must work well in a team environment).
• Be able to communicate and understand the predominant language(s) of our guests.
• Have working knowledge of beer, wine and liquor and common drink recipes.
• Possess basic math skills and have the ability to handle money and operate the computer system used at Pine Hills.
• Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
• Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
