Local Rate : $65/hr | Traveler Rate : $70/hr | Location : State College, PA

Job Description:

Pinnacle Alliances is looking for compassionate Registered Nurses for Pediatric Intensive Care Units. We have contracts available with more than 500 healthcare facilities including, Hospitals, Community Centers, Skilled Nursing Facilities, Clinics, Corrections, etc.

Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Nurses provide care for children and adolescents with a wide-range of ailments, from common childhood diseases to life-threatening illnesses. The difference between PICU patients and regular PEDs patients is that PICU patients are usually unstable and require constant monitoring and interventions.

Pediatric ICU Nurse Job Duties

Pediatric ICU nurses have a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:

· Providing emotional support to patients and their families during difficult times, such as death or serious illness.

· Monitoring patient vitals such as blood pressure, heart rate, respiration rate, temperature, and weight on a frequent basis to ensure they are within normal limits.

· Monitoring the child’s progress and communicating with other health care professionals regarding treatment plans and patient progress.

· Performing physical examinations on patients, including listening to lungs with a stethoscope and checking pulses in arms and legs.

· Preparing infants for feeding by suctioning out their noses and mouths with a bulb syringe.

· Monitoring the infant’s feeding schedule, administering feeding through a tube that has been inserted into the stomach through the navel, and changing diapers as needed.

· Recording information about patient symptoms, reactions to medications, and progress during nursing assessments.

· Observing and documenting patient behavior, including interactions with family members, visitors, and staff members.

· Providing emotional support to patients and their families during difficult times, such as death or serious illness.

Pediatric ICU Nurse Job Requirements:

· BLS, ACLS, PALS Required.

· NRP Preferred.

· 2 years of experience in Pediatric Care.

· Associate’s or Bachelor’s Nursing Degree Required.

· Knowledge of EMR Systems, such as Cerner, Meditech, EPIC, Point Click Care, etc.
