Job Description:
Education: Post high school training and/or education preferred, high school diploma or GED.
Experience: 6 months of Medical Assistant experience required. Six months of reception experience in a medical office setting preferred.
Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
Ability to work with culturally diverse population.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities/Competencies:
Provide exceptional customer service for patients, guests, families, and colleagues.
Exhibit exception organizational and time-management skills.
Detail oriented in all aspects of the job.
Exceptional follow through with tasks and patient contact.
Exercise independent judgment and discretion.
Assist with workflow of patients and patient documentation. Room patients and prepare patients for exam or treatment by provider, including vital signs and complete documentation in the electronic health record (EHR), assist provider in rooms including but not limited to annual female and male exams, motor vehicle accident, child wellness exams, and others.
Schedule patients, computer data entry, task management including but not limited to: patient messages, provider and coworker messages, referrals, prior authorizations, assisting the front office in answering phones, checking in/checking out patients, filling supplement orders, fax filing, plus any/all other duties necessary for smooth and efficient functioning of the clinic. Assist with incoming and outgoing phone calls, documentation within the EHR and practice management systems, and monitoring the provider’s schedule.
Clean and maintain patient exam rooms and MA station as well as shared cleaning responsibilities of other patient-use areas.
Restock patient rooms and lab testing kits as well as shared restocking responsibilities of other patient-use areas. Monitor supplies and assist in inventory/reordering.
Participate in professional growth and development.
CPR certification.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required:
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Knowledge of EHR and practice management functions.
Ability to multitask and work under busy conditions in a fast-paced medical office, often with frequent interruptions.
Have a pleasant, courteous, and welcoming in-person and telephone manner.
Interest in learning about natural and functional medicine.
