Position Summary – Purchasing Manager
The primary responsibility for this role will be to lead procurement within the organization. You will own direct and indirect purchasing throughout the company and will manage our Preferred Vendor Program. This position will also be responsible for working with the sales leadership team to create a new purchasing process and to train purchasing techniques throughout the organization. Furthermore, the position will carry the responsibility for identifying new suppliers and cost-control planning. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and works closely with the leadership team and senior executives.
Major Responsibilities
- Partner with managers to review our existing processes to develop a more efficient strategy for procurement of goods within the sales channels.
- Source and engage new suppliers and provide primary support for our Preferred Vendor Program.
- Negotiate with Suppliers and Vendors to secure advantageous pricing and terms.
- Training of personnel on progressive purchasing techniques.
- Approve purchase orders and organize and confirm delivery of goods.
- Perform risk assessment on potential contracts.
- Propose and manage the procurement budget and promote a culture of profitability and long-term savings.
- Work with Operations to manage client inventory.
- Prepare and present executive reporting.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 5-7 years supply chain or purchasing experience.
- Proven experience managing suppliers and vendors.
- Management and leadership skills.
- Multi-tasking and time-management skills.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- College Degree Required – preferably in supply chain management, logistics or business administration. (No online degrees please)
- Promotional products experience a plus.
