CATHOLIC SPIRITUAL GUIDE (PRIEST)
Location:
Federal Correctional Institution, Greenville, located in Greenville, IL
Reports to: Life Connections Chaplain Program Manager
Job Type:
· Contractual work hours are normally between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, excluding Federal Holidays. Evening hours may be required based on program needs.
· Work involves frequent and unsupervised contact with inmates, requiring a high degree of professionalism and adherence to security protocols.
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Catholic or Liturgical Spiritual Guide and Values Instructor to join our team in delivering the Residential Life Connections Pre-release Program at the Federal Correctional Institution in Greenville, Illinois. This impactful role involves providing religious instruction and leadership to Liturgical inmates, fostering spiritual growth, and promoting personal transformation to reduce recidivism.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and meaningful religious instruction and leadership for Liturgical inmates, focusing on topics such as living with integrity, spiritual growth, and leadership.
- Conduct six sessions per day, up to 30 sessions per week, in alignment with the program’s core curriculum.
- Administer and grade exams, encouraging inmate participation in journaling, discussion groups, service projects, and victim impact discussions.
- Collaborate closely with the Life Connections Program Chaplain and other staff to develop the program and monitor individual progress.
- Draw from Catholic and Liturgical faith traditions to support the religious and cultural backgrounds of participants.
- Assist inmates in integrating core curriculum principles into their personal worldviews to enhance community reintegration.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Possession of an ordination certificate or a similar document showing recognition as a clergy or spiritual leader in good standing with their faith community.
- Extensive experience serving as a spiritual leader of a recognized congregation or faith community.
- Bachelor’s degree in religious studies, religious education, spiritual direction, psychology/counseling, criminology, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of five years of continuous experience as a clergy leader.
- Documented experience in teaching spiritual topics to students of diverse religious backgrounds.
- Preferred qualifications:
- At least three years of experience in faith-based reentry programs within a correctional setting
- Familiarity with the Life Connections Program.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
Experience:
- Minimum of five years in a spiritual leadership role.
- Experience with faith-based reentry programs in a correctional setting is highly preferred.
Compensation:
- Competitive compensation package ranging from $40,000 to $60,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
