What are the responsibilities and job description for the Infection Control RN - Riverside position at Pioneer Health Care Management Inc?
The infection control practitioner is responsible for disease prevention in hospitals and healthcare facilities and should be well-versed in public health.
Core Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the prevention, investigation, monitoring and reporting of the spread of diseases
- Patient education and care, as well as patients families
- Education of staff regarding infection control protocols and policies
- Implementation of disease outbreak intervention procedures in the affected area of the facility and notifying public health authorities in the event of an outbreak
- Collect, record and analyze facility records and lab reports to assess the extent of a disease outbreak and make appropriate recommendations for action
- Communicate with all divisions and departments of the facility and management as well as with public health officials
- Maintain current knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and ensure that the facility leaders are informed of appropriate issues; understand and comply with infection control, safety, and OSHA procedures and regulations
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must hold a current State of Michigan RN license
- Two years experience in a SNF/LTC setting required; three to five years preferred
- Have primary professional training in nursing, medical technology, microbiology, epidemiology, or other related field; and have completed specialized training in infection prevention and control
- Be qualified by education, training, experience, or certification in infection control
- Computer literacy skills including Word; electronic clinical documentation experience preferred
