Piper Sandler is seeking a Securitized Products Analyst to join our Fixed Income Sales & Trading group in the Chicago office. This person will provide specialized support for the Securitized Products effort within the Fixed Income Sales & Trading department at Piper Sandler. This includes providing individual bond & sector commentary, relevant data management & organization, and supporting strategic business development objectives with our Chief Mortgage Strategist. In addition, the Analyst will assist with prepayment modeling & reporting, while building other relevant models to support Securitized Products Sales, Trading, and Strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Chief Mortgage Strategist with business development objectives & production for sales and trading
- Provide periodic individual bond, market, and sector updates via written and oral communication
- Coordinate Securitized Products Strategy presentations, pitches, and webinars
- Interface with various internal and external constituents to assist in driving the execution of trade ideas
- Locate and organize relevant Securitized Products market data for analysis and model development
- Develop ideas on useful analytic models and tools to better demonstrate trade opportunities to clients/sales.
- Ensure the business functionality and accuracy of all new products/models and report any outstanding issues
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in financing, accounting, math, financial engineering, or related field
- Recent graduates or candidates with 1 – 3 years relevant full-time or internship experience within fixed income, investment banking, or asset management preferred
Skills and Knowledge:
- Very strong interest in securitized products / mortgage-backed securities investing, strategy and analytics
- Equally strong social, verbal, & written communication skills with an ability to condense complex information into the most vital points in a compelling and credible fashion
- Candidate should possess strong attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, & Access) & Bloomberg Terminal/API
- Working knowledge of data programming and organization including Excel, VBA, Access, SQL, Tableau, etc.
- Advanced skills in data processing, data sciences and statistical analysis preferred, but not required
- Knowledge relating to fixed income, securitized products, and/or other financial markets is a strong plus
- Internship or full-time experience with general knowledge of the securitized products market is preferred
- FINRA Series 7, 63/66 & SIE required within 120 days of start date
U.S. work eligibility is required.
