What are the responsibilities and job description for the Greer Operator position at Pitman Farms?
Under the direction of the boxing supervisor this person Supervises the operation and maintenance of the Greer freezers and the box machines. Acts as operator on assignment shifts with full responsibility for facilities during that shift. The Greer and Box Machine Operator is responsible for all operations and maintenance of equipment in use.
Essential Functions:
1. Operate and perform maintenance on all equipment including mechanical apparatus used to operate the greers.
2. Operate and perform maintenance on all equipment including mechanical apparatus used to operate the Boxing machines.
3. Keep plant equipment clean and in top operating condition. Perform required maintenance. Make minor repair and adjustment when necessary, assuming full responsibility for such operations.
4. Makes various and periodic visual inspections to ensure plant is operating at specified performance levels.
5. Discuss with superintendent various operations and procedures which occur during the shift. Also works closely with the boxing department supervisor.
6. Will maintain tools and machinery in good condition and use all tools carefully and as instructed.
7. Periodic operation of a lift truck to supply materials for the boxing machines.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Demonstrated ability to work with hands and to work in mechanically oriented situations following instructions, given either orally or in writing, of a supervisor.
2. Must be self-motivated and able to use your own initiative.
3. Ability to do heavy lifting in excess of 80 lbs. Must be in good general physical condition.
4. Ability to hear, read, interpret, and analyze instructions to insure proper operations.
5. Ability to work well with supervisors and others.
6. Must understand greer functions and know how to operate a greer system.
7. Must be able to work in extreme cold.
8. Ability to safely operate an MFC lift truck.
