Farm Hand/Laborer

Pitts Angus Farms is actively looking for a full-time herdsman/farm operator. The position will primarily consist of the daily care and oversight of our registered cow herd, forage management and summer hay making.

The position will consist of but not be limited to the following tasks:

· Daily feeding and health appraisal of the cow herd, feeder cattle and bull and heifer development.

· Operating and general maintenance of all equipment used daily.

· General maintenance to farm fences and infrastructure.

· Applicants will need to have experience with all aspects of a cow calf operation.

· Applicants must have experience calving both cows and heifers.

· Applicants must have experience with UTVs, Tractors, Skid steers and feed trucks etc...

· Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and a CDL would be preferred.

· Applicants should be able to work well as a team member and/or alone, take direction from general manager and attain an efficient self-motivated work ethic.

· Applicants must be willing to work some weekends as needed.

· Compensation will be based on qualifications, experience, and skill set.

Pitts Angus Farms is a seedstock operation located just outside the town of Hermitage in the Missouri Ozarks near the Pomme De Terre Lake and River. The cow herd currently consists of Angus, Sim Angus, and Hereford genetics with approximately sixty percent calving in the fall and the remainder in early spring. A portion of the bulls are retained to develop and sell privately to cattleman in the surrounding areas. We also develop replacement heifers for retention and to market as bred Heifers. Bulls and females have been marketed through on farm production sales in the past and we look forward to having these yearly sales again in the future. Most of the winter feed and forage is grown here on the ranch. Double crop wheat and corn make up the haylage and silage with the remainder in cool season grass production for dry hay.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $14.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Weekends as needed
