The Claims Adjusters’ primary responsibility is to investigate, evaluate and adjust claims for missing and/or damaged cargo. The unified goal of the Claims Adjuster will be protecting our customer base and Planes Companies. In addition, the Claims Adjuster is responsible for performing other claims adjusting functions and projects within the Claims Department as needed.

The Role:
The Claims Adjusters’ primary responsibility is to investigate, evaluate and adjust claims for missing and/or damaged cargo. In addition, the Claims Adjuster is responsible for performing other claims adjusting functions and projects within the Claims Department as needed.
- Evaluate claims to determine reasonableness, necessary action, and responsibility.
- Follow established processes, authority limits, insurance policy language, standards and fair claims handling guidelines.
- Effectively and accurately interpret claim policies.
- Appropriately approve all justified and/or unusual claims.
- Provide professional and timely communication with all involved individuals.
- Demonstrate a commitment to detail for correct settlement and compilation of data for accurate claims reporting.
- Invoice the correct party, with appropriate follow-up procedures to ensure timely reimbursement and efficient management of cash flow.
- Work under time pressure outlined by the Claims Department and/or National Account claims policy guidelines to meet required deadlines and production standards.
- Arrange the shipment of customer goods that have been found.
- Manage salvage of damaged items for which full replacement has been provided to customer.
- Ensure all items claimed missing have had an appropriate trace performed.
- Demonstrate good knowledge of applicable tariffs, contracts, agreements to appropriately settle a claim.
- Be up to date with policies and procedures in settling of commercial, logistics, and corporate claims, including a complete understanding of chain of custody necessary for successful completion of these claims.
- Fully understand the steps needed to have claims be accepted through all insurance entities needed to ensure full reimbursement of any such claims.
- Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field or equivalent relevant work experience preferred
- Minimum of 3 year(s) experience in claims, or related industry required.
- Experience in customer service preferred.
