JOB DESCRIPTION
This position will serve as an integral part of our Kitchen team out of XMarket Uptown, Chicago. The primary purpose of this role is to assist in the production of high-quality, plant-based culinary options. The Kitchen team works closely with the entire store team to ensure retail execution and overall guest experience. This will include (but is not limited to) the following responsibilities:
- Assisting in preparing meal ingredients, which includes washing, peeling, cutting, and slicing fruits and vegetables.
- Preparing soups, salads, sauces, and all recipe items as instructed by the Head Chef
- Preparing garnishing culinary options in accordance with the instructions provided by the Chef
- Dishwashing and other kitchen cleaning responsibilities shared with kitchen team.
- Ensuring that all given tasks are completed in a timely manner.
- Adhering to standard food rotation practices to reduce food wastage and minimize the risk of contamination.
- Assessing the quality of ingredients and prepared food to ensure that it meets PlantX standards for health and customer satisfaction
- Stocking the veg rack in the retail area of the store with produce, and examining produce for use in the kitchen.

QUALIFICATIONS
- 2 years of culinary experience an asset
- Experience working with plant-based cooking an asset
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must hold a Food Handler's License or be willing to obtain
- Sound knowledge of food, health, and safety regulations
- The ability to work as part of a team
- The ability to stand for extended periods of time
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with efficiency and accuracy
- The ability to lift 50 lbs
- Excellent communication skills and ability to follow direction
- Exceptional organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
