Overview

Our client is a leading manufacturer of color and additive masterbatches for the thermoplastics industry. They are renowned for developing new formulations and meeting customers' unique requirements. They are currently seeking a Technical Manager for their company. In this role you will be responsible for providing technical direction and guidance for the lab and manufacturing facilities. You will oversee the development of new colors, review materials for cost saving opportunities, drive innovation and manage the technical support efforts including equipment, personnel and resources. You will review projects and drive formulation of products and you will oversee the quality programs in conjunction with QA.

Responsibility

• Oversees all technical activity, R&D, Technical Service, and Process Engineering, within the group by setting objectives, direction, and priorities based on the corporate business segments direction.
• Drive innovation and new product development
• Review materials to source lower cost alternatives.
• Maintains an awareness of the latest technology developments
• Oversee all technical service personnel.
• Reviews and approves external standards (ASTM, UL, etc.).
• Serve as backup to authorize release of product for shipment and follow up on product released under positive recall.
• Review all projects regarding proper formulation and quality.
• Assist production with scale-up of formulations.
• Oversee quality systems for manufacturing working closely with the QA Manager.
• Provides field service support: mold trials, customer complaint resolutions, NBO and new product launches
• Reviews financial performance reports of the department versus budget
• Carries out annual Color Process Re-Qualifications.
• Evaluates pre-purchase material samples.
• Involved in the Color Product Development (Design) Process for commercialization

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree, chemistry or chemical engineering, Master’s Degree or PhD. preferred.
• A minimum of five years of experience in masterbatch formulations.
• Five years of management experience.
• Creative problem solver that can identify new alternative materials and solutions to client needs.
• Ability to operate lab equipment including twin screw extruders, injection molders and two roll mills.
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Proficient with MS Suite programs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $150,000.00 - $190,000.00 per year
