Platform Waste Solutions (PWS) is a people company that solves waste problems. PWS needs to add key members to our team. We are a diversified service contract organization throughout the US that works with all levels of the government. General Managers are responsible for the adherence to operating standards, the development of supervisory goals and objectives, and the management of labor hours and disposal expenses. This position oversees all operational aspects of the hauling business within a location. In-depth knowledge of all aspects of disposal hauling vehicles including front loader, rear loader, side loader, semi-automated, and fully automated trucks. General Managers implement operating procedures and ensure standards are met. The hours and physical demands may vary by location. Broad and demonstrated knowledge of initiating cost containment strategies within operation management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages the District’s day-to-day operations and provides daily support to drivers in ensuring safety, service, and savings.
- Safely perform all tasks in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
- Oversees effective safety and accident prevention programs to ensure all reasonable action are taken to prevent accidents and injuries; ensures a safe and productive work environment for all employees.
- Ensures thorough root cause investigations for all injuries and incidents, following up with consistent coaching and retraining.
- Manage staff, including hiring, training, performance management, counseling, safety, disciplining, and training employees and evaluating employee performance. Manages termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
- Interacts with local city, municipal, and county agencies to ensure customer satisfaction, improve efficiency, renew contracts, and negotiate new contracts.
- Participates in regular P&L reviews to ensure that budgets are met; develops and implements programs for optimal equipment utilization, equipment maintenance, and labor and material costs. Enhancing customer experience, improving efficiency and maximizing profitability.
- Formulate short and long term goals and action plans with upper management.
- Prepare and present reports as necessary.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by performing and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with employees, co-workers, and management.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience: 2 years in a role with supervisory and/or P&L responsibility
- Knowledge of the waste industry and hauling operations.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and requirements (DOT, OSHA).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated business acumen, strategic thinking and an ability to execute against formulated strategy.
- Ability to lead large scale change initiatives.
- Ability to direct large staff of functional experts to execute the corporate strategy.
- Process-oriented and results-oriented in setting and pursuing aggressive goals, demonstrating a strong commitment to organizational success.
