What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chaplain position at Pleasant View Home?
The Chaplain is a spiritual leader responsible for providing emotional, spiritual, and religious support to the residents, families, and staff of Pleasant View Home. The Chaplain will work closely with the healthcare team to provide holistic care to our residents, addressing their spiritual, emotional, and physical needs.
Responsibilities:
- Provide confidential spiritual care and counseling to residents and their families, including one-on-one visits, group activities, and worship services.
- Conduct worship services, including weekly worship services, daily devotions, and other spiritual programs.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive spiritual care program that meets the diverse needs of our residents.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide end-of-life care, bereavement support, and other special care initiatives.
- Provide spiritual support to residents' families and loved ones during times of crisis or grief.
- Serve as a liaison between the nursing home and local religious organizations to facilitate spiritual support and outreach.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local clergy and other spiritual leaders to provide support and resources for residents.
- Participate in staff training and education programs to promote cultural competence and sensitivity in spiritual care.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
- Participate in various meetings that include QA/QAPI, monthly board report, communion, morning meetings.
- Provide documentation for Care plans as needed.
- Flexible hours.
Work Environment:
The Chaplain will work primarily on-site at Pleasant View Home, Inman, Kansas, Pleasant View Home Estates, Inman, Kansas, and Pleasant Hills in Hutchinson, Kansas, with occasional travel to local religious organizations or community events. The Chaplain will be expected to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate residents’ needs.

Requirements:
- Ordination or commissioning from a recognized denomination or faith tradition.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a interdisciplinary team.
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations and guidelines related to spiritual care.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in sensitive situations.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with older adults and their families.
- Knowledge of geriatric care principles and practices.
- Certification in chaplaincy (e.g., APC, NCC), but not required.
- Pastoral experience in healthcare, hospice, or long-term care facility desirable.
