Job Overview:
The Production Manager is a crucial role and will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer. This role is responsible for overseeing and upholding all manufacturing and related processes (both physical and digital), managing Production Technicians and production schedules, ensuring manufacturing procedures and SOPs are followed at all times, cleanliness and organization of the production facilities, and maintenance of necessary components and to maintain and improve production capacity.
Previous Experience:
The ideal candidate would have previous experience with cannabinoid extraction in a state-approved laboratory environment including familiarity with cannabis-infused products, extraction techniques and food chemistry. Other desirable include experience as a chemist, chemical or biochemical engineering in related fields including food processing, distillation, brewing, and essential oils. Ideal candidates should have experience working in a highly regulated laboratory that adheres to strict health & safety policies and procedures. Further, an ideal candidate has a minimum of three years in a management position overseeing the production of a food or other heavily regulated product (alcohol, cannabis, pharmaceutical, etc.) and is very knowledgeable of basic food safety at QA practices.
Responsibilities:
- Oversees and upholds all manufacturing and related processes (both physical and digital) including, but not limited to:
- Inventory Control and Storage
- Production Scheduling
- Production SOPs
- Batch Records
- QA/QC and Reporting
- COGS and Loss Calculations
- Order Processing
- Chain of custody tracking
- Manages, schedules and oversees Production Staff and participates in production when necessary
- Ensures Manufacturing Procedures and SOPs are being followed at all times to ensure consistent products across batches
- Maintains Manufacturing Equipment and ensures Equipment Related SOPs are being followed at all times
- Communicates with Sales team to ensure orders are processed correctly, efficiently and within agreed upon time parameters
- Maintains physical and digital organization and cleanliness through overseeing storage, reporting and labeling systems
- Monitors inventory levels and upkeep of production equipment, sets PAR values and reorders or undertakes maintenance to ensure minimal to no disruption to operations
Job Skills and Qualifications:
- At least 21 years of age
- Minimum of 3 years in management position overseeing the production of a food or other heavily regulated production (alcohol, cannabis, pharmaceutical, etc.)
- Very knowledgeable of basic food safety and QA practices
- Ability to follow and enforce regulations through daily operations
- Skilled in good documentation practices - research and data organization skills
- Experience developing, following and enforcing strict SOPs
- Acute problem-solving skills coupled with a strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to communicate effectively and work well with others
- Ability to develop systems to streamline reporting, storage and analysis of operations and production
- High levels of organization and ability to effectively translate targeted production volumes into actionable plans and schedules
- Knowledge of hemp law and medicinal benefits (Preferred)
- Knowledge in pharmaceutical formulation and/or brewing (Preferred)
Education:
Bachelor’s or advanced degree in chemistry, biochemistry, engineering, natural sciences, or related fields preferred.
