Job Description
The Project Accountant position requires sound organization, communication, and accounting skills. Must have a solid understanding of accounting principles; experience in or knowledge of road construction and PennDOT requirements is preferred. This position interacts with project managers, field supervisors, contractors, etc. in order to stay current on project developments. Overtime may be required to meet deadlines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Responsible for the project billing process:
- Monitor the status of assigned projects.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of project quantities, revenues, and expenses.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Create and track invoices.
- Collect on payments.
- Administer project contracts, subcontracts, change orders, certificates of insurance, submittal information, and compliance documentation for assigned projects.
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and external parties to resolve quantity discrepancies, address compliance issues, and collect outstanding payments.
- Provide timely and accurate reporting, analysis and assistance to project managers and senior management.
- Investigate account discrepancies to verify validity and ensure accounting accuracy; follow through with responsible parties until resolution.
- Other duties and responsibilities of similar nature and complexity as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
- An Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of work experience and education.
- A minimum of 2 years of project accounting or related experience.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented professional with proven ability to handle multiple deadlines and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical skills with proven ability to manipulate, interpret and report findings on large volumes of data.
- Possess the ability to politely and assertively request information to ensure timely accounting and project related requirements are maintained.
- Advanced knowledge in MS Office Suite including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
