We are seeking a skilled and reliable Mobile Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in repair and maintenance, with the ability to diagnose and fix a variety of vehicle & equipment issues on-site. Job Responsibilities:
- On-Site Diagnostics and Repairs: Perform diagnostics, repairs, and routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment. Repairs and maintains construction equipment of various types and sizes from light-duty to heavy-duty (class 8) trucks and from light-duty to heavy duty operating equipment.
- Emergency Assistance: Provide roadside assistance for vehicles that have broken down, including repairs and towing coordination if necessary.
- Vehicle & System Maintenance: Perform preventative maintenance following OEM specifications as well as electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic diagrams. Remove and replace defective parts by dismantling devices using hand and power tools.
- Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all tools and equipment are in good working condition and properly maintained.
- Test repaired equipment to ensure proper functioning when used.
- Occasionally fabricate, weld and cut parts, using arc-welding/ wire feed and flame cutting equipment.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Perform DOT inspections.
- Perform related and other duties as requested.
- Technical Expertise: Proven experience as a mechanic, preferably in a mobile service role.
- Diagnostic Skills: Strong ability to diagnose and repair a wide range of mechanical issues with vehicles and equipment.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting heavy equipment and working in various weather conditions.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- High School Diploma of GED
- Welding and fabrication experience preferred not required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, a CDL license is preferred.
- Must have a good driving record with no major violations within the last 5 years or be accepted by the company insurance policy provider to drive PLP company vehicles.
- Must comply with PLP Company Substance Abuse Policy and DOT Drug Control Program, which includes pre-employment and random drug and/or alcohol testing.
- Must have experience with diesel engines, gas engines and hydraulics.
- Must have a manual-hand-finger dexterity.
- Must have eye-hand-foot coordination.
- Must be able to lift and/or transport 50 pounds.
- Must be willing to workdays, nights, weekends, and occasional travel.
- 10hr workdays / 40hr work weeks
