Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaching
- Teach band classes, private instruction, and other program pieces as assigned by the Program Coordinator.
- Ensure the opportunity for all students to learn in a supportive environment.
- Create and maintain a positive and orderly learning environment.
- Analyze student progress and provide appropriate instruction.
- Execute management/discipline plans ensuring student safety at all times.
- Develop a classroom climate that promotes positive learning conditions.
- Work professionally with administrators, staff, parents, and community.
- Participate in other job-related duties and activities related to the position as assigned by the Program Coordinator.
- Tidy up practice spaces after use.
- Communicate to the Program Coordinator re: any damaged equipment technology issues that effect student experience.
- Communicate to the Program Coordinator any concerns for student wellbeing / safety.
Administrative
- Parent/student communications.
- Support the scheduling of band classes, private instruction, and other program pieces.
- Taking and reporting attendance for both band classes and private instruction.
- Responding to social media inquiries, emails, and phone calls.
- Gig management and concert planning.
- Classroom inventory and organization.
- Attend teacher meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Miscellaneous tasks as needed from administration.
Position Expectations:
- Work cooperatively with students, parents, peers, administrators, and community members.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all lessons and projects.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and strategies in order to meet the needs of all students.
- Participate as an active member with other faculty and staff.
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required.
- Maintain and improve professional competency by attending and leveraging professional development opportunities.
- Communicate effectively both written and orally.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator.

- Aptitude: Advanced teaching knowledge of voice and basic teaching knowledge of, guitar, drums, keyboard and bass . Thorough knowledge of traditional and popular music styles.
- Education and Experience: Must hold an undergraduate degree in music from an accredited college or university or a minimum of 2 years demonstrated ensemble teaching experience in a school setting (student teaching applies).
- Interpersonal Skills: Works well with others from diverse backgrounds. Focuses on problem solving, maintaining confidentiality, remaining open to others’ ideas, and contributing to building a positive team spirit.
- Language: Ability to communicate fluently in English both verbally and in writing. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, parents, staff, or members of the community. Ability to draft simple correspondence and some routine reports. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in the usage of internet software and email. Ability to use and service basic office technology (using a printer, replacing printer ink, etc.)
- Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to appropriately communicate with students, teachers, parents, members of the community and others. Ability to exercise good judgment and work in a fast paced, hectic environment.
