Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced hands-on Director of Revenue who can build and scale the billing and revenue function in a hyper growth environment.

Due to our rapid growth and structure of the finance team, only candidates local to the Bay Area will be considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of revenue cycle to ensure accurate revenue recognition under ASC 606, including drafting of the revenue recognition policy and technical revenue accounting white papers
  • Build a scalable revenue and billing team for IPO readiness
  • Serve as the subject matter expert in revenue recognition and drive the day-to-day decisions for the revenue and billing teams
  • Lead discussions on technical revenue topics with the business (executives, sales ops, accounting, legal, customers, etc) in simple terms
  • Assist with deal desk contract review to ensure favorable revenue recognition contractual structure that is GAAP compliant
  • Implement controls, processes, and policies in the order-to-cash cycle for SOX readiness
  • Identify and lead the implementation of revenue and billing systems
  • Manage the month end revenue close process including timely completion of all close activities (JEs, recons, analysis, etc) and reporting
  • Coach and mentor the team and participate with cross departmental knowledge sharing
  • Assist with process redesign and implementations and propose automated processes to improve efficiencies
  • Assist with the annual audit to ensure timely completion and clean audit opinion
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects

Desired Skills and Experience:


  • Strong technical accounting and revenue operational background with deep knowledge of US GAAP
  • Experience working in a hyper growth software/SAAS companies implementing processes, policies, and best practices
  • Strong people, project, and customer management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skill; ability to translate complex issues into simple and non-complex terms

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 15 years of technical accounting & revenue operation experience from a top-tier public accounting firm and high growth Software/SAAS companies
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Accounting/Finance
  • Strong knowledge of SOX requirements, including the ability to assess, develop and implement internal controls
  • Experience with various ERP systems, including NetSuite, RevPro, SFDC, Zuora, etc.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Licensed CPA
