We are looking for a Planner / Scheduler who is responsible for the planning, scheduling, and tracking of workflow through the production process. Work closely with other departments (sales, inside sales, estimating, purchasing, and production). This position will have the opportunity to be instrumental in the growth of the company while working with the Process & Planning Department to implement a scheduling and planning process building-wide.
SHIFT SCHEDULE:
- 1st Shift: Mondays - Thursdays; 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; Fridays; 8:00 AM - Noon
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned as needed.
- Create, track and report on current production schedule and status of released jobs
- Monitor forecast needs and schedules them within a timely manner, communication with Sales, Inside Sales, and Production
- Review work orders to ensure accuracy
- Works with production to reassign manpower/equipment as needed due to changes in job priority
- Assist production in actively managing the production capacity and loading of work centers. Adjust daily schedule as needed to reach attainable booking levels
- Review and discuss manpower assignments with department managers and update labor availability in the scheduling module of ERP, by scheduling timeline, including absences, vacations, and special assignments of employees
- Provide input to Department Managers on manpower requirements in the event of unscheduled work; Monitor the balance of workload between departments and request overtime as needed
- Manage to build to stock items and enter work orders as needed to meet customer demands/production schedule
- Coordinate with department managers as needed to identify and resolve issues regarding capacity constraints and delivery
- Work with production to identify production and delivery issues, and take corrective actions as needed
- Coordinates with shipping to ensure jobs are shipping to customers and outside vendors on time
- Follow up manage expedited orders
- Work with estimating to remedy issues on routers/work orders
- Work with purchasing to ensure material is on hand before work center start dates
- Work with Department Managers to ensure jobs are being completed and prioritized according to work center loading
- Work with inside sales and advise any potential delivery issues to ensure proactive customer communications
- Attends departmental meetings as required
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor Degree in a related field (business, manufacturing, etc.); required
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years recent related experience; required
- Production scheduling and/or planning experience; required
- Experience with an ERP/MRP software; required
- Knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, e-mail software, and the use of the Internet
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and tooling
- Strong math skills
- Good communication skills
