Overall Objectives of Position
The Intervention Services Assistant is responsible for assisting with the implementation of comprehensive therapeutic programs and services that address student behaviors and academic deficiencies. This job description is not an all-inclusive list of the duties and responsibilities of this position. The Intervention Services Assistant is expected to perform all duties and responsibilities necessary to meet the goals and objectives of the applicable programs. The Intervention Services Assistant is expected to live the Purpose and Values of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and will go beyond the call of duty.

Primary Responsibilities of the Intervention Services Assistant
  • Attends and serves as a member of the therapeutic team helping families navigate the education and behavioral health system, and assists with communication between therapists, social workers, medical personnel and educators.
  • Directs implementation of all behavior analytic procedures (including acquisition and behavior reduction programs) to individuals in an outpatient clinic setting under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
  • Supports teachers, childcare workers, BGC Youth Activities Workers, etc. by implementing behavior protocols to create a safe and supportive environment.
  • Provides direct client care for children in one-on-one and group settings utilizing a combination of intensive teaching and natural environment training arrangements.
  • Works with children with special needs and/or social adjustment needs in order to bring about positive change.
  • Collects, records, and summarizes data on observable student behavior.
  • Effectively communicates with supervisor regarding student progress and/or potential changes.
  • Maintains and acquires technical knowledge by attending required training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate person.
Day-to-day Responsibilities
  • Implements one-on-one and group behavioral interventions to teach communication, social, and daily living skills and reduce problematic behaviors for students.
  • Assists with the generalization of therapeutic programs in environments such as the classroom, the playground, field trips, etc.
  • Documents client progress and behavior change.
  • Assists with individual client needs such as dietary, communication devices, anxiety, etc.
  • Maintains ongoing communication with supervisor concerning client programs and activities.
  • Maintains all required documentation for service delivery.
  • Assists with toileting and changing diapers as needed.
  • Ensures the safety and well-being of 2, 3, and 4-year-old students.
  • Implements approved behavior management strategies to ensure client progress.
  • Assists with preparation of materials necessary for ABA services.
  • Builds good relationships with students and co-workers.
  • Performs general cleaning and sanitizing of classrooms to reduce exposure to airborne pathogens.
Education/License/Certification and Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Two (2) years of employment experience working with children with problem behaviors or special needs required.
  • Must possess a Registered Behavior Technician certification or must complete this certification within the first six (6) months of employment.
  • Must possess “Mandatory Reporter Certification” or obtain within the first week of employment.
  • Must possess and maintain First Aid/CPR certification or obtain within ninety (90) days of employment.

Additional Requirements
  • Ability to work odd and irregular hours, as needed.
  • Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license and an insurable driving record according to Tribal insurance guidelines.
  • Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development, and other events.
  • Ability to adequately and successfully perform all duties and responsibilities of this position.
