Pocatello Valley Montessori School is looking for a motivated and patient individual to work in our Toddler, Primary, and Before and Aftercare Classrooms during the 2024-25 school year. Classroom assistants are under the direct supervision and work cohesively with the classroom Lead Teacher. Applicants must be available during the hours of 7:30 am-6:00pm. (Schedules vary by position)

Job duties range from organizing materials and cleaning the workspace to facilitating the learning process for each child. All assistants are expected to embrace the Montessori teaching method. Specifically, they must help guide the child through self-directed activities, allowing the child to develop at his or her own pace. They are expected to foster, along with the lead teacher, a nurturing and stimulating, non-competitive environment.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist the lead teacher during the work period
  • Ensure proper checkout procedures for students
  • Assist with lunch and snack times
  • Assist with and provide proper supervision during recess
  • Clean and reset work areas
  • Follow guidelines for proper sanitation of various items and overall classroom

Qualifications:

  • Experience in a Montessori environment preferred.
  • 1 years experience working with children 0-6 years old.
  • High school diploma
  • Must be able to pass background check and obtain a childcare license
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with students and parents
  • Must be able to provide quality and nurturing care to all students enrolled in the program
  • Must be able to fulfill responsibilities as laid out in employee contract

Salary: $12.50 /hour

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract

Pay: From $12.50 per hour

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

Work Location: In person
