What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineer II - Logistics position at PODS?
The Engineer II - Logistics will be responsible for supporting the logistics operations and network design. These responsibilities include: analyze and continuously improve the logistics network and assist in evaluating site locations. This individual will also conduct analysis on trucking flows for container shipments, determining lane design and volume. The role will also be responsible to manage the data and tools required to conduct network design models.
This team member will advise leadership on development of analytics capabilities, frameworks, and systems for sharing reports and dashboards across multiple areas of the organization, helping ensure consistency in the definition of metrics to analyze the business.
Finally, this individual will work closely with leadership as well as internal/external stakeholders to gain a mastery of the business; facilitate shared learning, coach and develop analytics talent, and ensure business implications of insights are understood and actioned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Key member of team that will support the implementation of Network Design Modeling, TMS and Routing and Scheduling technologies
· Responsible for the network design and optimized container flow of the corporate logistics functions with a purchased transportation spend of $300M
· Continuously improve our long-distance logistics network including facility placement and scaling, truck and lane staffing requirements for our 3PL’s, and load planning process
· Develop KPI Dashboards using PowerBI/Snowflake
· Directs compilation and preparation of statistical process controls to determine best service / cost opportunity
· Responsible for identifying and developing continuous improvement opportunities relative to the PODs logistics network
· May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience Requirements
● BS degree required, preferably in Logistics
● 3 years of experience of logistics network engineering and supply chain analysis
● Transportation Design Tools ie; Cheetah, Network Design Tools ie; OptiLogic
● Transportation Management Systems ie; TMW, Mapping Software
● Microsoft Office Suite Skills with emphasis on PowerBI, Excel, and Powerpoint
● Knowledge of Dedicated Services and Managed Transportation Networks
● A positive team player with the ability to communicate effectively, influence cross-functionally and develop solid working relationships across multiple levels and organizational boundaries is required
● Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and demonstrated ability to put structure around vague and unstructured requests/discussions
● Strong communication and presentation skills to influence and expedite the decision-making process
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer for up to 8 hours a day; Ability to use hands and fingers to type on a keyboard and use a mouse to navigate; Vision sufficient to view small details on a computer monitor
· Ability to stand and walk up to 8 hours a day; ability to stoop, bend and lift boxes weighing up to 50 lbs.
· Ability to hear and verbally communicate using a telephone handset and/or connected headset device
