Job Description and Responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for all facets of forklift operations including but not limited to loading and unloading transportation trucks of containers, kits, inventory or any other item being shipped or received including UPS and FedEx. Responsibilities may include any other forklift operations required within the production facility as needed. During slow periods, forklift operator may be required to perform other non-forklift duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Able to complete forklift training and safely operate a 21,000 lb. capacity forklift
- Adhere to all safety policies and perform all tasks in a safe manner including adherence to OSHA regulations
- Complete daily forklift inspection reports and maintain records onsite
- Fuel forklift
- Maintain the forklift to ensure it is kept clean and in good repair
- Schedule maintenance on the forklift
- Able to maneuver large loads in a safe manner
- Able to stack large loads in tight spaces without causing damage
- Unload large items such as kits and roofs from sea containers with a stationary or portal dock
- Load/unload containers from intermodal containers
- Load/unload containers, kits, roofs, etc. from flatbed trailers
- Load/unload shipments from van trailers
- Able to move materials using hand cart and or pallet jack
- Basic computer skills
- Utilize TMW to add/print and time stamp waybills
- Safely rig materials for lifting
- Shop and yard clean up
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 0-1 years’ experience operating heavy forklifts that exceed 10,000 lbs.
- Ability to read and understand English is required for OSHA safety regulations
- Possess a current valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Possess math skills sufficient to perform required duties; ability to apply these skills to units of American weight measurement, volume and distance
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand and walk up to 8 hours a day; ability to stoop, bend and lift boxes weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to walk, drive and stand for extended periods of time during assigned shift; Ability to climb, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Ability to climb a ladder
- Able to work in a non-climate controlled environment
- Ability to reach and work above head level
- Ability to hear and verbally communicate using a telephone handset and/or connected headset device
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Shift start times may vary; some additional hours may be required including Saturdays/Sundays; required to work overtime as needed.
- Travel requirements: Negligible
- Warehouse and/or repair center locations may not be climate controlled except for specific areas. May be expected to work during inclement weather conditions.
- Regular attendance and punctuality required
- May be subject to pre-employment criminal background check and/or drug screening as well as random drug screenings in accordance with company policy
