Job Summary
Markets and sells all Harvard Pilgrim Health Plans and ancillary products to employer groups through brokers and consultants. Position is responsible for development, management and coordination with key brokers and consultants to leverage the position of HPHC in the marketplace to achieve sales objectives. They will also interface with operations and underwriting departments and carriers to facilitate installation of new accounts.Key Responsibilities/Duties - what you will be doing
Attains assigned goals and established metrics for all sales activity. Coordinates the preparation of proposals including responding to detailed questionnaires, preparing complex financial exhibits, and negotiating pricing and performance guarantees. Presents proposals to brokers and clients, and coordinates with internal departments and Sr. Managers to conduct finalist presentations with designated clients. Responsible for the implementation of the Target Account Strategy and maintenance of all information necessary to support the active and ongoing solicitation of target accounts.
Develops assigned brokers and consultants. Improves relations through frequent contact, providing updates and introducing key people.
Mentors junior staff members on all facets of the sales process and day to day procedures. Serve as a Sales and Marketing resource to peers and management. Maintain an in-depth knowledge of HPHC products as well as prospects and competition.
Supervises the implementation of sold accounts. Oversees and coordinates with service representatives, Operations and other internal departments, to ensure timely scheduling of employee meetings or health fairs, development, editing and delivery of customized and standard communication materials, and completion of required internal paperwork. On large accounts, schedules and conducts regular implementation meetings, involving personnel from internal departments as appropriate and conduct health fairs and open enrollment meetings.
Qualifications - what you need to perform the job
EDUCATION: (Minimum educations & certifications required)
BA/BS degree required;
EXPERIENCE: (Years of experience)
Requires a minimum of 5 years successful employee benefits/group insurance sales or consulting experience, including experience in the 200 employee market. Thorough knowledge of employee benefits products, insurance contract, alternate funding products, ancillary coverage, administrative procedures, complex underwriting concepts, and brokerage development. Experience with managed care plan, flexible benefits, consultants and national accounts preferred.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS: (Include interpersonal skills)
Requires ability to: juggle multiple priorities; interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills sufficient to effectively sell complex financial arrangements; negotiate and a demonstrated track record of brokerage consultant and account development and attainment of production goals.
Interpersonal skills (include personal interaction):
Requires interpersonal skills necessary to establish working relationships with brokers and consultants, clients and internal departments. Requires communication skills at a level sufficient to interact effectively with Senior Management personnel.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS (include special requirements, e.g., lifting, travel, overtime)
Exposure to highly confidential information including client and prospect financial and utilization data diagnosis/prognosis and high claim information on individuals, salary information on census data; and Request for Proposal information.
