Benefits Payment Manager

Organization Description:

The mission of the Policemen's Annuity and Benefit Fund of Chicago (the Fund) is to provide retirement, survivors and disability benefits to the sworn police members of the Chicago Police Department, their spouses and children, where applicable.

Job Summary & Responsibilities:

The Fund is seeking a Benefits Payment Manager who will lead the group that is responsible for the accuracy and integrity of processing pension, disability and survivor benefit payments to City of Chicago sworn police officers and surviving family members.

Specific responsibilities include:

· Review and approve new account set-ups entered by staff for annuitants, surviving spouses, minor children, disability benefit recipients and minor children of disability recipients in the fund custodian platform.

· Review and approve daily inputting changes in the fund custodian platform for electronic deposits.

· Review and approve all monthly payment to annuitants, surviving beneficiaries, minor children, disability benefit recipients and minor children of disability recipients in the fund custodian platform.

The Benefits Payment Manager will work in a small team environment. This position requires frequent interaction and effective communication with a variety of stakeholders.

Requirements:

Candidate should possess the following skills and/or experience:

· Demonstrated project management and problem-solving skills. Ability to self-motivate, adapt to change management procedures and accomplish long-term goals and projects.

· Excellent communication skills with diverse populations. Must be able to handle situations with professionalism, tact, compassion and diplomacy. Must understand privacy requirements and uphold the highest standard of confidentiality.

· Outstanding time management skills, organization, and ability to work through competing priorities with poise and confidence.

· Detailed oriented.

· High proficiency with Microsoft products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

· Bachelor's degree.

· Familiarity with defined employee benefit plans is desirable but not required.

Additional Information:

This position requires a full-time presence at the Fund's offices in downtown Chicago. Office hours are 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday-Friday. Flextime, telecommuting, and/or alternative work locations or schedules are not available. This full-time position includes a generous benefit package. Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
