UTILITIES STOREKEEPER
FULL TIME TEMP TO PERM
Candidates will be staffed through Ad-Vance Talent Solutions, a business partner of Polk County, during the probationary period before transition to County employment.

ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES
Stock and supply manual labor and clerical work within a central distribution warehouse.
Receives, unpacks and stores in bulk, goods, materials, and supplies in proper storage areas. Checks incoming materials against invoices, purchase orders, delivery forms verifying that goods, supplies and equipment being received are the quantity and quality indicated on forms prior to signing for receipt of the order. Prepares and ensures that requisition and receipt paperwork/invoices are recorded according to standard work unit procedures. Records, posts, balances, and maintains department/division accounting records, subsidiary journals according to established account classifications using data base system. Assists with re-order and/or new orders for stock and supplies using standard operating procedures and practices (i.e.: using county warehouse catalogues).
Receives supply request for goods, materials, and supplies, gathers/prepares/assembles the order for pick-up and/or delivery. Pulls materials, goods, as requested for a work order and assembles same for work crews, office units or division/department needs as specified on requisitions. Responsible for loading/unloading and delivering of goods and materials as specified within a timely manner.
Maintains an updated record keeping system of all warehouse inventory using basic handwritten data records or micro-computer/CRT system (i.e.: requisitioned or disbursed stock and supply information). Responsible for taking perpetual inventory counts, recounts and annual inventory process to ensure that stocks of goods, materials, supplies, and tools are accounted for and recorded appropriately. Responsible for placing or assisting with re-orders/new orders for all warehouse stock and supplies. Responsible for and/or assists with preparing various accounting and auditing forms, record keeping systems and reports. Prepares statistical, fiscal, budget documents, reports as directed. Maintains a supply inventory for items that cost under $5.00. Balances detailed customer accounts with control. Answers billing/statement inquiries and/or customer complaint. Provides interpretations of rules, regulations and laws governing work assignments
Responsible for cleaning warehousing area(s) and keeping stock in order using categorizing means and methods to ensure easy retrieval and location of stock and supplies. Responsible for packaging, labeling and arranging for goods to be shipped to vendor for repair/replacement. Performs related duties as required. Ability to learn general purchase, requisition and warehousing procedures and practices utilized within the assigned work unit.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Knowledge of the general principles and practices of fiscal record keeping and/or bookkeeping. Knowledge of office practices, procedures and equipment. Ability to learn the record keeping methods, practices and procedures utilized within the assigned work unit. Ability to become familiar with the operations care and general maintenance of CRT, micro-computers, adding machines, copiers, forklifts, delivery trucks, vans and other office equipment/machines which may be utilized. Ability to inspect quality and quantity of goods received as well as verifying that orders meet specifications according to purchase orders/requisitions. Ability to use independent judgment in applying and interpreting procedures and practices used within work unit's operations.
Ability to establish/maintain an effective working relationship with the public and other employees. Ability to type and/or key information. Ability and agility to continuously bend, stoop, stand and lift boxes/crates of heavy goods, bulk materials, supplies and equipment. Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to speak in a manner that can be understood. Ability to perform tasks that require eye and hand coordination. Ability to perform mathematical tasks. Ability to concentrate. Ability to type, utilizing personal computers, related software and other office equipment of the assigned work unit. Ability to make accurate mathematical calculations. Required to have a forklift operating certification or obtain one within 3 months of employment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of accredited high school or possess an acceptable equivalency diploma and have a minimum of six (2) years fiscal recordkeeping, warehousing, merchandising or related clerical experience.
Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to secure a valid Florida driver’s license at the time of employment within this classification.
A comparable amount of related training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must perform after hour call-out in emergency and on rotational basis. Must obtain and maintain a home telephone at the time of employment as employee is subject to call for emergencies. Must be able to work a flexible work schedule as needed.
This position may be required to report for work when a declaration of emergency has been declared in Polk County.
