Junior Designer

Pollinate is a full-service creative agency based in beautiful Portland, Oregon. Unofficially, we're a bunch of nice humans who like to tackle unconnected dots with brains, curiosity, big ideas and a wide range of viewpoints. But officially, we're a group of experienced, cross-discipline teams orchestrating campaigns and experiences that connect to core truths with emotion.

Pollinate's creative team believes that creativity backed up with intelligent thinking, humor and cultural relevance equals high-quality output. And right now, Pollinate is seeking a Junior Designer to help us in that endeavor. This role will be responsible for honing design and technical skills, while striving to create and collaborate on unexpected, brand-consistent, strategically-sound communication for assigned clients.

The ideal candidate will have a strong command of typography, a sharp eye for detail, and be trained in forward-thinking digital design. In addition, they will be a positive team collaborator with experience giving and receiving feedback. We are a small but mighty team and this role will be instrumental in the success of the work we produce.

Though we are a remote office, the ideal candidate will be in the Portland area to attend brainstorming sessions, photoshoots and video shoots.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Assists creative team in implementing designs
  • Creates and executes designs across a range of formats and mediums
  • Assists other designers and art directors, as needed
  • Creates materials for new business and internal presentations
  • Produces highest quality final-stage files on time
  • Works well as a team member; knows how a team operates and what is expected in critiques and team meetings

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

The ideal candidate for this position has:

  • 1-3 years of experience
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent professional experience
  • Demonstrates advanced skill level in programs required for discipline (Adobe CS Suite, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign; Figma, etc.)
  • Keen eye for detail and technical know-how
  • Understanding of web and UX design
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new software or processes
  • Organizational and file categorizing ability
  • Solid design skills; possesses strong attention to detail
  • Exhibits good organizational skills, multi-tasking and time management
  • Strong desire to work in a collaborative environment
  • Web banner HTML/CSS skills, and animation/motion graphics skills are a plus
  • Seeks input from mentors and supervisors and accepts offered feedback
  • Applies feedback to improve performance and quality

Organizational Expectations:

  • Accurately reports weekly time with appropriate level of detail
  • Estimates work effort for assigned tasks and meet deadlines
  • Keeps files and assets organized and easily accessible to others
