Overview
Poly-America, L.P., leading plastics manufacturer, is currently seeking a Packaging Engineer to join our engineering team. Poly-America produces several lines of polyethylene products including high quality trash bags, construction films, and geomembrane liners. Poly-America is also the most technologically advanced and largest recycler and compounder of polyethylene in the world.
Responsibilities
The Packaging Engineer for Poly-America is responsible for researching, recommending, and evaluating materials for packaging of industrial and consumer products. The role is accountable for the creation, release, documentation, and testing of different packaging options as required. The Packaging Engineer will also work in the mindset of ensuring environmental responsibility with the goal to minimize the company’s environmental impact.
- Evaluate existing packaging products and develop packaging solutions to improve processes and reduce waste.
- Ensure packaging meets or exceeds customer technical and functional specifications.
- Resolve quality or technical issues relating to packaging and identify potential cost impact.
- Maintain up-to-date specifications of packaging materials, technology and industry trends.
- Research related packaging issues and identify solutions as needed.
- Perform other related duties as required.

- Ability to analyze and understand research and to identify relevant and valuable information.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering is highly preferred; or Engineering degree accompanied by relevant field experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of industry-related experience.
- Knowledgeable in pallet design software such as TOPS or CAPE.
- Experience working with corrugated packaging products.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Exposure to non-climate controlled environment on occasion.
- Must be able to navigate a variety of settings as needed to identify packaging issues and solutions.
