Cost Accountant (FT)

• Collecting and analyzing data about a company’s operational costs.
• Coordinate month-end reporting including inventory valuation, account reconciliations, preparation of general ledger entries and accruals.
• Analyzing costs of goods sold and average costing.
• Develop, analyze and monitor manufacturing overhead rates and track cost absorption and update rates as needed.
• Analyze plant data and advise management on areas of inefficiencies.
• Implement and improve internal accounting controls, safeguards and monitor reports for breaches.
• Ensure the integrity of the batch ticket process (creation, closing and costing). Review and track data to ensure accuracy of costs.
• Carrying out cost-volume-profit (CVP) analysis.
• Establishing costs of business processes such as administration, labor, shipping, etc.
• Performing account reconciliations.
• Preparing audit reports and presenting their findings to management.
• Recommending changes to the company’s processes and policies to reduce cost and maximize profit.
• Advising executives and upper management on appropriate costing based on financial data.
• Provide ad-hoc support to plant managers, Controller and Operations as required.
• Provide reporting and guidance on the Key Business Metrics used to evaluate performance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Talk, hear and vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to travel up to 30%.

• BS/BA in Accounting or Business related degree with 5 years of work experience.
• CPA/CMA or MBA preferred.
• Highly ethical, trustworthy and maintain confidentiality.
• Proficient in Microsoft applications including Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Proficient knowledge of an ERP system and report writing experience.
• Self-motivated and able to execute independently with the ability to demonstrate sound judgement and resourcefulness in decision making and problem solving.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include occasional evenings.
• Ability to develop and implement process improvements.
• Great attention to detail, organized and team oriented with a willingness to learn.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, hand-on environment.
