Job Description
Position: Risk Control Consultant
FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports To: Director of Risk Control Services
Supervises: No supervisory responsibilities
Department: Risk Control Department

Purpose: Under general supervision, complete assigned risk control tasks: risk control hazard
assessments; develop and assist in the implementation of regulatory compliance programs virtual and in
person ergonomics evaluations and conduct supervisor/employee occupational/environmental health
and safety training.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Perform risk control and safety assessments as assigned:
- Travel to client facilities to conduct audits
- Conduct opening and closing conferences for client representative
- Conduct hazard assessments of client facilities to identify potential loss exposures; and utilize Poms Risk Organizer software to photograph and document hazards.
- Prepare photo-illustrated digital reports via Poms Risk Organizer (PRO)
- Review reports for accuracy prior to sending them to clients.
2. Provide consultation services as assigned:
- Travel to client facilities to provide on-site consultation
- Problem-solve client compliance challenges, including but not limited to: determination of the problem; solution development; solution implementation and other services requiring professional judgement.
- Assist the client to better understand what is driving the frequency and severity of workers’ compensation, general liability and/or automobile claims
- Assist clients in the development and implementation of various regulatory safety and environmental safety programs
3. Develop and/or conduct occupational health and safety and environmental training for a various public entities and private industries on a variety of topics.
4. Contribute to the development of Poms’ service products to further develop our business
5. Maintain professional integrity by pursing on-going professional development and maintaining professional accreditation and certification
Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor of Science or Art degree
- Minimum of four years of safety, health, environmental and/or risk control experience
- Upon hire obtain Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) certification
- Qualified to become a member of a professional organization, such as, American Society of Safety Professionals
- Ability to analyze, develop ad manage risk control programs
- Working knowledge of MS office products, Word, Teams and Excel software
- Ability to multi-task easily and re-prioritize work assignments based upon dynamic business needs
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work both independently and as a team
- Possesses strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to travel overnight
- Ability to work without direct supervision

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hand to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs, ladders and playground equipment; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear both inside (majority of time) and outside (occasionally).
The employee must travel via automobile, airplane and other public transportation on a routine to frequent basis.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but occasional noise levels exceed 85 decibels for duration's of less than 15 minutes.
The working environment includes: outdoor exposures to inclement weather, direct sunlight and temperature variations from below zero to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Indoor office and academic environments; industrial workshops, automotive workshops, fine art workshops, stagecraft areas, agricultural yards and shops, science laboratories and storerooms. Special education classrooms and service facilities, media transmission facilities and medical facilities. Construction environments, retail, warehouse and food and beverage locations.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $95.00 - $110.00 per hour
