What are the responsibilities and job description for the Server position at Poppy + Rose?
The server will assist with to-go/takeout/delivery orders, poppy patio outdoor dining service and FOH operation at Poppy Rose. We are an all-hands-on-deck operation, so this position includes taking orders (using the POS system), making drinks, running food, bussing tables and additional side work, such as polishing glassware, etc. This job also requires that the employee maintains our friendly, helpful atmosphere at Poppy Rose and maintains the physical atmosphere of our restaurant, including keeping the dining room, patio area and all FOH areas clean, as well as occasional assistance with other spaces such as storage room, bathrooms, etc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Helps with overall front-of-house operation and patio outdoor dining service.
- Take orders accurately on our POS system
- Runs food to the correct table in accordance with our guidelines
- Make various drinks to specification
- Bus tables and assist with the cleaning, sanitation and organization of the dining room, FOH supplies and other areas, as needed
- Perform side work such as stamping to-go boxes, polishing silverware, etc.
- Performs additional responsibilities as requested by managers.
- Ensures that food and beverages are properly stored.
- Participates in establishing and maintaining a friendly and cooperative atmosphere in the restaurant.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 1-3 years of restaurant experience
- Good people and customer service skills
- Professional communication skills required
- Food Handlers and RBS certification required
- Ability to take direction
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to work fast, effectively and stay focused under pressure
- Understanding of basic restaurant sanitation
- Must be able to perform repetitive tasks and stand for extended periods of time

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Must be highly self-motivated, enjoy keeping busy, and have good customer service skills
- Must be able to communicate clearly and consistently with peers and management
- An understanding of food and beverage operations, including Health Department guidelines
REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- 1-3 years experience in food and beverage industry
- Servsafe and RBS certification required; CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications a plus
- Ability to lift items up to 50lbs; ability to arrive to work as scheduled
This job may require you to occasionally lift up to 55 pounds, frequently lift up to 15-30 pounds. You will frequently be standing for 6 or more hours a day and perform sustained, repetitive, manual and circular motion tasks with your hands and upper extremities on vertical and horizontal surfaces; This position may require repetitive operation of restaurant equipment and tools as well as occasional bending and squatting; You will occasionally be required to safely use cleaning chemicals; This position will include frequent interruptions during a work shift and requires employees to arrive to work on time and as scheduled.
