Description

Job Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Wheelchair Van Driver to join our team. The primary responsibility of the Wheelchair Van Driver is to provide safe and reliable transportation for individuals with mobility challenges, ensuring their comfort and wellbeing during transit. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating a wheelchairaccessible van, assisting passengers in boarding, and disembarking, and maintaining the vehicle in a clean and functional condition.


Responsibilities:

Safe Transportation:

  •  Operate a wheelchair-accessible van in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to all traffic rules and regulations.
  •  Ensure the safety and well-being of passengers with mobility challenges during transit.

Passenger Assistance:

  •  Assist passengers in boarding and disembarking the van, paying special attention to those with limited mobility.
  •  Secure wheelchairs and other mobility aids properly to ensure a safe and comfortable ride.

Communication:

  •  Communicate effectively with passengers to address any specific needs or concerns they may have.
  •  Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor while interacting with passengers and colleagues.

Route Planning:

  •  Familiarize yourself with routes and schedules to ensure timely arrival at designated pick-up and drop-off locations.
  •  Plan routes efficiently to minimize travel time for passengers.

Vehicle Maintenance:

  •  Conduct routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the wheelchair-accessible van.
  •  Report any maintenance issues promptly and ensure that the vehicle is kept clean and in good working condition.

Documentation:

  •  Maintain accurate records of trips, mileage, and any incidents that may occur during transit.
  •  Complete required documentation for each trip, including passenger information and special requests.

Customer Service:

  •  Provide excellent customer service by being attentive, courteous, and responsive to passengers' needs.
  •  Handle passenger inquiries and concerns professionally and promptly.

Adherence to Policies:

  •  Follow company policies and procedures regarding transportation services.
  •  Comply with accessibility and safety standards for transporting individuals with disabilities.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  •  Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  •  Already Have current DOT physical or be able to obtain one.
  •  Knowledge of wheelchair securement procedures.
  •  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  •  Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
  •  Physical ability to assist passengers with mobility challenges.
  •  Flexibility with working hours, as some shifts may include evenings and weekends.
