Accounting Specialist
General Position Summary:
Performs general bookkeeping and accounting functions related to accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and job costing.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
- Prepares, verifies and codes purchase orders, invoices, journal entries or other accounting related transactions
- Reviews documents for accuracy, completeness and compliance with company requirements
- Determines if funds are available for expenditures or requisitions and posts to proper account(s), monitors fund/account balances and notifies management when limits are reached
- Reviews computer reports to identify and trace sources of error(s) and makes necessary corrections
- Prepares various special and recurring accounting reports, summaries, financial statements, statistical reports and and performs reconciliations
- Performs or reviews specialized calculations related to posting and accounting functions
- Solves problems and recommends changes in procedure in accordance with previous training or experience
- Responsible for payroll preparation, processing billings (DOD and other contractual billings) and preparing inter-governmental schedule of values
- Familiar with Davis Bacon Act and preparation of wage documents consistent with this Act
Education and/or Experience
High School diploma or GED required. Two (2) years of accounting experience and/or training required. A minimum of five (5) years experience working in a construction office. Knowledge of Sage 300 Construction and Real Esate accounting software is preferred. A valid State of Washington driver’s license is required.
Job Conditions
Working conditions include working in an office setting with a computer and other equipment. Other working conditions may include working alone, frequent interruptions, evening and/or weekends.
Physical Requirements
Manual and finger dexterity for operation of personal computers, adding machine and routine paperwork. Ability to sit for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
