We are currently seeking candidates for a full-time PrePress Specialist position at our Palmer Printing division in Waite Park, MN.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Accesses customer files, creates and/or determines the correct montage, exposes the job and monitors progress through exposure queue, doing all these functions electronically

on computerized pre-press equipment following department procedures

• Cuts and punches exposed material and matches finished product to shop order tickets as well as checking the plates for accuracy
• Pre-flights and traps PDF's
• Creates new templates using imposition software
• Administrates and organizes PDF files and templates on operator's personnel computer and on department's file server
• Reads and understands shop order tickets to determine correct product specifications, the correct press to expose a plate for, and the correct size, positioning and stepping to use
• Routine cleaning and minor maintenance of the laser imaging equipment
• Maintains a clean and orderly work area and equipment
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

Desired Skills and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required with two years post-secondary education (AA) in a printing or design-related field strongly preferred
• Basic math skills including the ability to work with fractions and the X, Y coordinate system
• Good communication skills to work with graphics department and other department personnel
• Proficiency with Mac computers and MS Office products
• Prior use of press equipment, publishing software programs and imposition software programs preferred

Starting hourly rate for this position will be $18.50 to $21.00 commensurate with experience with two performance reviews/potential increases during your first year!
