Responsibilities
Position Outline:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality Control Engineer to join our team in Houston, TX. The Quality Control Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring that all construction activities adhere to the highest standards of quality and compliance. This position requires a thorough understanding of construction processes, materials, and regulatory standards, along with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, field-based environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain the project-specific Quality Control Plan. Ensure that all work performed on-site meets the project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Inspection & Testing: Conduct regular inspections and tests of materials, equipment, and construction activities to verify compliance with project specifications. Document and report any deficiencies or non-conformances.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed and organized records of all quality control activities, including inspection reports, test results, and corrective actions. Ensure that all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and readily accessible.
- Coordination: Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and subcontractors to communicate quality control requirements and resolve any issues that may arise. Provide guidance and support to ensure that quality standards are understood and met by all parties.
- Problem Solving: Identify potential quality issues early in the construction process and work pro-actively to address them. Develop and implement corrective action plans to resolve any quality-related problems.
- Compliance: Ensure that all quality control activities are conducted in accordance with company policies, safety standards, and local, state, and federal regulations.
- Continuous Improvement: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of quality control processes and recommend improvements as necessary. Stay informed about industry best practices and incorporate them into the project’s quality control procedures.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in quality control within the construction industry, preferably in heavy civil construction.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and standards.
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards, including OSHA.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse team.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Willingness to travel to various construction sites within the Houston area.
