We are hiring a Full-Time Senior Financial Analyst to join the UTHealth School of Public Health in Dallas, TX 75207. In this position, you would be primarily focused on the Post-Award grants administration and coordination for projects within the school.

Position Summary:

Responsible for the daily business operational and financial management of The Dallas Regional Campus projects and other financial duties within the department of Management, Policy and Community Health. Ensures compliance to the fiscal, budgetary, and operational systems established by university and departmental, program, and grant guidelines. Supports management in making complex business process decisions requiring comprehensive knowledge, discretion and independent judgment of a wide range of regulations, policies, procedures and business practices. Additional guidance may be provided through supervisor instructions.

Provides professional level skills in performing financial analysis for the institution.  Completes financial analysis and develops financial forecasts to ensure the institution's assets are completely maximized. Assists in planning, coordinating and monitoring the research activities of the unit.  Administers procedures designed to comply with appropriate regulations relating to the administration of government and private research grants and contracts and for the interpretation and application of such procedures and regulations.  

 

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Manages the day to day business and financial processes, trends past performance and forecasts future financials
  • Creates budgets for new projects and grants.
  • Manages classified staff and faculty effort allocation based on funding.
  • Manages and monitors budgets, including requesting carry-forward to the new fiscal year and residual accounts.
  • Develops, prepares, and analyzes special financial reports.
  • Completes financial statements, which compare actual and budgeted expenditures and revenues.
  • Preplong-term term financing plans and reports to senior management.
  • Approves all monetary transactions in PeopleSoft and Coupa input by administrative coordinator.
  • Conducts purchase order modifications.
  • Generates invoices and journal transfers for faculty. Ensures that invoices are paid and funds applied to the correct account.
  • Works with UT System to obtain approvals for the spending of awarded monies.
  • Examines historical and projected financial data to provide senior management with valuable data upon which to make relevant financial decisions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Certification/Skills:

  • Advanced working knowledge of standard Office Software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is required.
  • Advanced working knowledge of University financial systems is preferred.

 

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.

 

Minimum Experience:

  • Five (5) years of related experience in a financial or accounting area.
  • Previous Post-Award grant management experience is highly preferred. 

 

Physical Requirements: Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects. Security Sensitive:This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215
