Purchasing Manager

Overview

We are seeking an experienced full-time Purchasing Manager to join our team in our Highland, New York facility. The Purchasing Manager will work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing and other internal departments, leading and working as part of the team responsible for negotiating with vendors for the purchase of all materials, supplies, equipment and services used by the company.

This is a full time position with excellent affordable medical, dental and vision benefits, paid holidays, paid time off and 401k match and  1/2 day Fridays.  

Pay range: $80,000-$110,000/yr. 

The compensation range provided is in compliance with state specific laws. Factors that may be used to determine your actual rate of pay include your specific skills, years of experience and other factors.

Responsibilities

• Develop purchasing policies, strategic buying, planning and participation in inventory and quality plans, policies and procedures while ensuring compliance.
• Make recommendations to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations.
• Interact with internal departments to ensure that all requirements are being met.
• Facilitate supplier continuous improvement and total customer satisfaction by performing supplier process audits and reviews.
• Ensure contracts with suppliers and vendors are consistent with corporate objectives.
• Drive contract negotiations with suppliers to ensure quality, the lowest price and service guarantee.
• Manage the daily functions of the Purchasing Department in procuring materials, equipment and services while maintaining standards of excellence for processes, methods and personnel, inlcuding direct supervisor, performance management, goal setting and professional development.

Qualifications

• Requires 5-10 years of progressive experience in purchasing and supply chain management in manufacturing environment of electro/mechanical equipment.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business preferred.
• Previous management experience required.
• Knowledge of parts and suppliers
• Sound understanding of business law, legal contracts and various financial issues including cash flow and working capital.
• Excellent management skills including planning, organizing, decision making, motivating and leading with a high degree of interpersonal skills.
• Advanced skills in MS Excel and MRP program (Syteline preferred), required.
• Previous experience in lighting manufacturing preferred, by not required.
