Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)

  • Solicit new business through prospecting, networking, research, community involvement, telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, attending trade shows, conferences, and conducting sales trips
  • Maintain and grow existing business by nurturing relationships, resoliciting past bookings, and seeking further opportunities within current accounts.
  • Negotiate rates and concessions to the mutual benefit of Potawatomi Hotel & Casino (PHC) and the customer.
  • Create customized proposals, make presentations, and conduct property tours to prospective customers.
  • Write contracts using approved templates. When necessary act as a liaison between the legal department, and the client.
  • Coordinate the turnover of new bookings to the assigned Catering Manager.
  • Represent PHC by attending and participating in community and professional events.
  • Keep accurate records of daily activities (calls, appointments, meetings, follow up, etc.) through the use of Delphi software.
  • Maintain communication with the Executive Sales Manager
  • Be onsite for site tours, assigned office coverage, company meetings and key times with booked business.
  • Develop a full working knowledge of the operations of the hotel, including but not limited hotel accommodations, policies, Food and Beverage, Guest Services, reservations, and meeting facilities.
  • Communicate with internal business partners on upcoming client needs, market trends, VIP clients, and possible business opportunities.
  • Resolve guest concerns including providing resolutions that may be outside of the normal operating practices.
  • Support the goals of the Sales and Catering department through individual efforts, teamwork, and collaboration with all departments.
  • Perform job duties in full compliance with departmental internal controls, policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • A high school diploma or equivalent and 4 years of related experience are required. A Bachelor's degree can take the place of 2 years of experience.
  • Previous Hospitality Sales experience is preferred.
  • Must hold a valid state issued non-probationary Driver’s License and maintain a safe/good driving record.
  • Must have and maintain continuous vehicle insurance coverage.
  • The ability to use standard office equipment and general knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience using a Customer Relationship Management (CMR) system, such as Delphi, is preferred.
  • The ability to use strong organization skills and attention to detail to accurately handle multiple job duties and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to maintain discretion in handling confidential information.
  • The ability to interact with guests and team members at all levels of the organization professionally, including the ability to speak in front of small groups.
  • The ability to work irregular hours and extended shifts including late nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, hear, stand, sit, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and move freely throughout the office and property for duration of scheduled shift. The team member is frequently required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The team member must be able to operate a personal computer. The team member may be required to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 25 pounds occasionally. Team member must wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing job duties. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions

The noise level is usually moderate. When on the casino floor the noise level increases. The facility is not smoke free.


While performing the duties of this job, the team member will frequently be required to drive personal vehicle for sales calls and may be exposed to driving related hazards.
