POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Pottawatomie County Zoning Administrator, the Zoning Compliance Inspector is a full-time, non-exempt position under FLSA. The goal of this position is to review and follow-up on zoning and other permitting actions to assure compliance with County regulations (Unified Development Regulations), the inspection and investigation of Conditional Use Permit (CUP) conditions and requirements, zoning and subdivision regulation violations, adherence to site plan requirements, and other functions necessary to assist in the operation of the office.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (required):
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
A thorough knowledge of computers and office equipment is essential. Mathematical aptitude is required. Must be adept with Microsoft Office Suite products, with the ability to create and maintain documents, spreadsheets and databases. Ability to use and maintain projects created with ArcMap recommended. Employee shall have the ability to read and interpret subdivision plats, surveys, legal descriptions, site plans and written instructions. Employee shall also possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
A high school diploma, GED or graduation from a vocational school is required, supplemented by college or university course work in a related field is preferred. Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, ability and skills may be accepted. Possession of a valid Kansas Driver’s License is essential.
Must have and maintain a clean driving record for this position. A “clean” record is defined as: No misdemeanor or felony convictions for traffic/vehicular offenses (such as but not limited to DUI, vehicular homicide, reckless driving, hit and run, etc.) that are less than five (5) years old; no more than two (2) at fault or chargeable accidents that are less than five (5) years old; no more than two (2) traffic infractions (such as but not limited to speeding, failure to yield right of way, etc.) that are less than one year old.
