CONTROL SYSTEMS DESIGNER
What You’ll be Doing
Working on a project with a multi-disciplinary team inside your new team, the Control Systems Designer is responsible for all software related technical work with respect to projects and service provided to our customers. This role is remote, and the expectation is to be on customer site as often as required. The Control Systems Designer plays a pivotal role in using their creativity and technical expertise to help break down walls and push the boundary on what’s possible. Whether it's programming PLCs, HMIs, Drives, Applications or SCADA systems, you'll harness your technical proficiency to create systems that drive industrial growth. - Partner with the Project Managers and Technical Leads in a variety of areas including:
PLC/HMI/SCADA/Drives/Application programming
Testing of systems
Industrial communication networks
Startup and commissioning at our customers’ sites
Troubleshoot, install and/or repair control systems
- Meet the schedule, specifications, and quality requirements for all project deliverables
- Cost control as it relates to the assigned projects
- Take turns in handling after hours emergency service calls (1 week; 3 – 4 times/year)
- Actively participate in continuous improvement of internal processes, best practices, and external value creation for customers
- Effective planning and scheduling of your assignments, including effective time management, identify and manage risk, quality control, and resource allocation
- Drive and support quality, safety and compliance mandates, trainings and procedures
- Work collaboratively to ensure project schedules, deliverables, communications, reports and processes are effectively addressing any issues, changes, updates, training, and providing overall strong client support

What You’ll Bring
- Either 5 years of Control Systems programming experience or an equivalent degree.
- Degree/diploma in Electrical, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Industrial, Control Systems, Robotics & Automation Engineering,or similar programs
- Understanding of Control Logic
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to respond effectively to common inquiries from customers
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work well with all internal and external teams; you are passionate about working with people and overcoming challenges through collaboration
- Ability to manage time well to keep project targets and customer demand
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License and passport for international travel
- Ability to travel 25-35% of the time.
- We’d Love to hear about the Following:
- Any Previous Control Systems hardware design
- Projects Involving Motion Controls, Robotics, Application and Vision Systems programming experience
- Any previous experience with Higher level programming languages such as but not limited too: Python, Java, C , Visual Basic, SQL database programming
- Progress towards a Professional Engineering License (P. Eng.) or Certified Engineering Technologist
- Proficiency with different software tools and computer applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office, PLC programming software, HMI/SCADA programming software, drives programming software, industrial automation networks and system virtualization
- Capacity to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Experience, operating and interpreting electrical testing equipment such as multimeters
- Onsite commissioning and installation experience
