Production Support Supervisor
Are you an experienced production support professional who is looking for a new and challenging opportunity? Look no further and come join our Aerospace team here at PPG Inc. We are looking to hire a Production Support Supervisor to join us at our Wallingford, CT facility.
This individual will supervise daily activities of production area to ensure that volume, cost, and quality standards are achieved. They will also coordinates work schedules, staffing requirements, and production sequences to maximize productivity. They will work onsite and report to the Operations Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staff.
- Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department.
- Perform personnel actions as needed.
- Act as a subject matter expert for Qualifications Based Pay program which include:
- Understanding positions and steps
- Updating steps as needed to ensure accuracy and relevance.
- Creating documentation for tracking employee skill progression; ensure supervisors and leads update tracking as appropriate.
- Championing tracking of employees’ skills
- Schedule OJT training with employees’ supervisors
- Follow up with supervisors for information on employee skill progression, encouraging cross training and development to move employees through steps as appropriate.
- Work with Quality and Operations to review Corrective Action Reports (CARs) and jointly develop training to address issues.
- Work with EHS and HR to maintain accurate records of QBP related training (job related/job specific)
- Perform duties around production planning & monitoring which include:
- Planning daily, weekly production while balancing with monthly expectations
- Meet with internal customers/departments to ensure production schedules meet customer needs
- Communicate production expectations to Shift Supervisors and leads.
- Mapping jobs to specific machines for production scheduling.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, such as errors, delays, defects, or malfunctions.
- Developing metrics for run rate, OTD, etc.
- Publish metrics on regular cadence.
- Compile daily production sheets from each shift, review them for accuracy, and enter them into the appropriate systems.
- Maintain consumable materials inventory.
- Develop and maintain monthly tooling schedule for machine PM/operation.
- Serves as project manager for new production initiatives.
- Conducting aspects of production readiness which include:
- Coordinate new hire / onboarding with Shift Production Supervisors.
- Review onboarding / new hire training with Production Supervisors and Leads, ensuring new hires and current staff have capabilities in place and complete required corporate and local training assigned.
- Audit machine operation procedures to ensure current SOPs/WI/QIPs are being used for orders
- Develop written procedures for production operation and deploy to all production employees (sending to Supervisors, Leads, Aero Training)
- Provide coverage for Production Shift Supervisors when these individuals are not available.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
- U.S. Citizen or Persons required.
