What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler position at PPG Industries?
As a Material Handler, you are accountable for reading, interpreting, and picking orders. You also will follow material handling processes and procedures to coordinate, store, assemble, receive, label, and ship individual components kitted together for final distribution to various locations. Key Responsibilities:
- Reads and interprets production orders and picks tickets.
- Exactly follows material handling processes and procedures to coordinate, store, assemble, receive, label, and ship individual components kitted together for final distribution to various locations.
- Reads and follows special instructions.
- Operates forklift, motorized pallet jack, and electric delivery carts.
- Follows housekeeping standards set.
- Communicates effectively and completely with team members and other employees as necessary.
- Follows all prescribed operating and equipment handling procedures with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Participates in 5 S activities.
- Follows with Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements at all times.
Qualifications:
- Ability to effectively read, write, and communicate in English.
- At least one year of directly applicable experience preferred.
- Must be able to accurately follow written and verbal instructions.
- Perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Accurately perform and interpret complex production scheduling and analytical mathematics required of an operations management level position.
- Read and apply both Standard and Metric weights and measurements.
- Safely operate hand and power tools, drum dollies, and powered forklifts with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Obtain and maintain a forklift license.
- Should possess basic digital literacy (QIA, excel, word, power point).
- Must be able to use and/or wear all required PPE with or without reasonable accommodation..
