What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Supervisor position at PPG?
As aProduction Supervisor,you will oversee the production processes and will lead a staff on the designated shift. The shift supervisor is an important part of the operation and has interaction with production staff, shift leads, and important leadership members of the plant.
You will be housed in our Pre-Form plant in Thomasville, NC and will report to the Plant manager. PPG offers excellent Medical, Dental, & Vision Benefits; matching 401k retirement savings; and Paid Vacation, Holiday pay.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the shift of all employees and temporary employees;
Ensure that staff is held accountable for job performance and violations of PPG policy;
Confirm staff is practicing safe work habits and complying with PPG safety policies;
Ensure Quality standards are being maintained by shift workers;
Ensure Productivity standards are being maintained;
Report to Plant Manager any infractions that occur while on their shift;
Ensure training is current in safety procedures for self and shift workers;
Ensure training is taking place for new employees and temporaries;
Ensure Quality standards are understood and applied;
Make sure training is up to date if required to do maintenance, calibrations, oiling;
Will work 2nd shift, 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Qualifications
High school diploma required and Associate's or Bachelor’s technical degree; minimum of 5 years of production supervisor and manufacturing experience.
Technical background in manufacturing;
Quality and Safety demonstrated knowledge, required;
Comfortable working on a rotating weekend shift preferred
Excellent problem-solving skills to improve efforts
Team leadership skills and the ability to work through
