Overview
This entry-level position is responsible for supporting Security Command Center operations across all PPL operating companies with a broad base of physical security operator related activities including but not limited to physical access control system (PACS) monitoring; initiating dispatch of responders to assess incidents and respond to alarms; contacting law enforcement and other emergency personnel as needed in support of PPL Emergency Operations plan; processing photo ID badges and supporting physical badge access needs; supporting other security duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
This position may be hired at the Intermedate Security Operator or Security Operator level based on the successful candidate's background, education and experience. Additional responsibilities may be included for levels of this position.
- 24/7 Security Operations Center with the flexibility working various shifts (already in current job doc)
- Monitor PPL’s computer-based card access security system (CCURE), and CCTV systems.
- Monitors security operations for PPL operating company facilities.
- Perform alarm monitoring functions, building fire panel systems, and any other security related computer-based systems.
- Process photo ID badges, assists with badge access across all Operating Companies.
- Carry out the provisions of the PPL Emergency Operations Plan.
- The ability to handle any emergency in a calm manner, following proper emergency policies and procedures. Dispatch Security Officers as needed.
- Oversight of security personnel on their shift and ensure all personnel are properly equipped and comply with established policies and procedures.
- Maintain a high degree of quality customer service and professionalism.
- Respond to alarms as directed and determine cause for alarms. Properly document alarm disposition in related security systems.
- Perform other related security duties as assigned.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Initiates dispatch of a responder to assess the event, respond to alarm.
- Contacts law enforcement, fire personnel, emergency responders/ EMA, PPL on-call personnel ,TCC, DCC, Fusion Operations.

Intermediate Security Operator level
Basic Qualifications
- Associate degree in criminal justice or related field OR a minimum of 2 years security/law enforcement or investigative experience.
- Experience with incident management, crisis management, self-directed decision making.
- Ability and license to operate a motor vehicle.
- NIMS training, ICS 100, ICS 200, ICS 700, and ICS 800, Active Shooter IS 907
Security Operator level
Basic Qualifications
- Associate degree in criminal justice or related field OR a minimum of 3 years security/law enforcement or investigative experience.
- Experience with incident management, crisis management, self-directed decision making.
- Ability and license to operate a motor vehicle.
- NIMS training, ICS 100, ICS 200, ICS 700, and ICS 800, Active Shooter IS 907
Preferred Qualifications (all levels)
- BS/BA Criminal Jutice or related field preferred
- Experience with investigations, CCURE physical access control system or similar security system.
- Incident Management training (to be obtained within 6 months of hire)
- Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), or Professional Certified Investigator (PCI) certifications through American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS).
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of current security compliance requirements involving Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), State Utility Commission, Transportation Security Administration, State and Local Law Enforcement and within the natural gas, renewable energy, and electric sectors.
